Lloyd Webber steals the show

To the Sound Theatre in Wardour Street for The Musical of Musicals: The Musical!, a cumbersome title for an effervescent show which probably has more laughs per minute than anything else in the West End. I've seldom seen an audience so giddy with pleasure.

The parodies of Broadway songwriters are pin-sharop. But the high point is a lacerating spoof of Lloyd Webber: "I've heard that song before," trills a Sarah Brightman-type ingénue. "You'll hear it even more," warns the phantom of the opera. "It may sound just a teeny/like something by Puccini..."

Hurry to Wardour Street at once - before his lordship's lawyers get there.
